Station No. 7
Cobblegate
Where the timetable is mostly weather.
Long grass moves in the wind on both sides of the track, silver where it bends. It is bright midday, with shadows tucked tight under every tree.
Cobblegate is a small stop, and the train does not hurry here. Rain barrels line the back wall, and an old brass bell hangs unrung by the door. A last breath of steam, a soft clunk, and the platform begins to slide backwards.
The luggage racks hold a quiet collection of bags, coats and one slightly crumpled kite. There is no timetable to worry about; the train is simply going on, as it always does.
The Slow Train pulled into Cobblegate at midnight UTC on 7 November 2026, rested at the platform for a minute, and carried on across meadow country. Everyone riding that day looked out of the same window.
