Station No. 4
Nettlehollow
Hedgerows, haystacks and a station cat that has seen every train.
A stream follows the line for a while, bright between its willows, then wanders off on its own business. Dusk has settled, and the first stars are coming out above the line.
Nettlehollow is a small stop, and the train does not hurry here. The platform is short, the signal arm is old, and a single lamp hums over the timetable. The doors stay shut, the engine breathes, and the journey continues towards the next stop.
The seats are warm and the light inside is low, so the world outside looks a little brighter. Up ahead the line bends gently out of view, and nobody minds not knowing what is round the corner.
The Slow Train pulled into Nettlehollow at midnight UTC on 4 November 2026, rested at the platform for a minute, and carried on across meadow country. Everyone riding that day looked out of the same window.
